Your favorite snacks are more than just a tasty treat—they’re an edible time machine back to simpler days
Let’s flash back to a simpler time. You’re slumped through your fourth period class, pondering how on earth you’re going to make it through the rest of the day. Before you know it, the silvery bell rings, and that means one thing: it’s time for lunch. But today’s not just any regular lunch, because you thankfully remembered to pack your favorite snack to go along with it. Suddenly, the rest of the day seems a little less daunting and a lot more delectable.
I’m a huge advocate for snacks. Snack breaks, snacking while you work, snacks as a reward… there’s just something so alleviating from the stressors at hand when you know you’ve got a little treat to get you through it. Growing up, I’ve always been one to go for the salty options—chips, pretzels, popcorn, the works. However, there will always be a rare instance in which my sweet tooth calls, and nothing hits the spot better than a bag of sour candy. These days, the push towards healthy snacks is prevalent, which I’m all for. I love a good veggie and hummus combo or crisp fruit. But I can’t deny… nothing quite compares to the indulgent OGs.
Something I appreciate about snacks is that they can always bring back cherished childhood memories that you’d have otherwise lost in the recesses of your brain. The warm feeling I get from seeing a box of Pocky or bag of shrimp crackers compares to no other. If you’re one who loves to commemorate different time periods of your life through tattoos, a snack tattoo is right up your alley. They symbolize everything from carefree youth to a reminder to take a break and enjoy the little things. Just be wary that every time you peek at it, you might get hungry, so ink them at your own discretion.
There’s no shortage of delicious snack options in the world. Thus, we’ve compiled a glorious selection of some of the most beloved bites that hopefully bring you back to more blissful times. Browse the gallery below and grab a snack or two while you’re at it.
